Smart or Dumb?

While I was studying the evolution of home appliances  and their Smartness, one basic question that struck me was why did not anyone think of accommodating a basic Power meter in a Washer or an Air conditioner, which can tell me how much power it has consumed since the last power ON? Most of these appliances do have a nice LCD/LED display, which shows the various settings, time elapsed…blah blah but does not show how much resources have been consumed. Read more…

Mind your home business! Smart Grid will make your home operations more efficient!

We create a problem first and then innovate to solve it (or complicate it, allowing room for more innovation). Exploitation of natural resources has resulted in the need to innovate the way utility companies or power grids run their businesses. Smart Grid is the answer from Technology vendors to solve the problem for Utility companies. By bringing in a two-way information exchange, right from the power generation plants to transmission & distribution all the way to homes, it is anticipated that the demand and supply problem in the Power sector will be minimized thereby allowing efficient usage of the power generated.
