Are social games really new?

I still remember the days when I used to listen intently to the ‘rolling the dice’ games of Mahabharata. Thinking back today, I wonder if all games are as social as they were several thousand years ago. The point is, they are.  It was somewhere in the period in-between that the dominance of the personal – me only – people-free gaming was high. I think this was during the baby boomer generation. Is Social Gaming the future of gaming?

Is the iPhone the future of mobile telecommunications? Will it make obsolete the thousands of handset models in one fail swoop? NO! Not now, not ever.  However, it’s hard to dispute that the iPhone is definitely a game changer – to put it mildly. It has forced the competition to rethink their own strategies across the board from design to features.  Likewise, the social gaming phenomenon sweeping the online world is making more than just ripples.
